Qualified Glider Pilot Course
“Qualified Glider Pilot” (QGP) Certificate – Ground School Course
Introduction
This course consists of five parts, which correspond to the five parts of the examination papers set by the Gliding Association of Thailand (GAT) . The course is based on the requirements of the training syllabus and the prescribed examinations. It is referenced where appropriate to the QGP study manual.
Note: the requirements for pilots to obtain a QGP certificate are set out in the document: “Requirement for flying gliders – Thai registered aircraft”.

There are five exam papers prescribed, each dealing with one part of the course, and each consisting of twenty questions. To obtain a pass in each paper you must answer correctly at least fourteen questions from that paper. The questions and answers in the exam paper are of the multiple-choice format, and should present you with no difficulty if you have attended and understood this course of lectures. Two hours is allowed for the answering of each paper.
Examinations for any part may be arranged with the CFI of the Club.
The five parts of the course are-
1. Air Law - Operational rules and procedures.
2. Airmanship and navigation.
3. Technical knowledge (Principles of flight, glider construction
and limitations.)
4. Meteorology.
5. Human Factors (Human beings in the aviation environment.)
Note for Course Instructors:
You will find the following aids most helpful in teaching QGP theory courses:
1. Copies of the Appendices in these notes as handouts.
2. Current 1:500,000 aeronautical charts
3. A Whiteboard.
4. A small globe of the earth.
5. A model aeroplane (preferably a glider)
6. Pictures of cloud types.

1. Introduction
1.1 This Advisory Circular provides guidance on the following:
“A” Certificate oral examination questions.
The model answers to the A Certificate questions.
“B” Certificate oral examination questions.
The model answers to the B Certificate questions.
Sample test papers for the Qualified Glider Pilot examinations complete with answers. (yet to be issued)
2. Oral Examinations
2.1 Oral examinations are used to test applicants for issue of the A and B Certificates.
2.2 A question bank and model answers for each of these examinations is to be freely available to students for study purposes. From this, ten questions from each section will be chosen by the examining instructor on the day. The student is to answer in a manner that shows understanding of the subjects questioned to be considered to be answering correctly.
3. Written Examinations
3.1 Written multi choice examinations are used to test applicants for the Qualified Glider Pilot Certificate (QGP).
3.2 Each multi choice question shall have 4 answer options of which only one is completely correct.
4. Pass Mark
4.1 The pass mark required for QGP examinations is 70. Correctly answering 7 out of the 10 questions asked in each section of an examination is therefore deemed a pass.
